One more record release show

One more record release show for Constant Mongrel this Friday. Playing with them are EASTLINK, who have put out maybe my favorite record so far this year (a S/T cassette on Creep Dreams, that’ll soon be available in the states via Little Big Chief).

We are big fans of Constant Mongrel’s new album around here. Actually one of the only things that excites us more than the record is the lineup for its launch at the Gaso this Friday. Holy Shit-hot-lineup-samolly! The Melbourne debut for Sydney outlaws Raw Prawn, made up of other super bands Whores and Holy Balm. Yeah boy! Eastlink – a band so hot that they threw the bass out the window of their first jam and haven’t looked back. But when your band is made up of members of UV Race, Total Control, Lakes and Repairs I’m surprised they need any instruments at all. Trench Sisters will play by far the fastest and shortest songs of the night. They will also be the meanest. To be totally honest I’m REALLY excited to see the debut performance for Leather Towel. Apparently they play fast hardcore punk the way it was meant to be played – fast and hardcore. Another band with a sweet pedigree/lineage – ZOND, Ooga Boogas and Woollen Kits. Gig of the night by far!

I just shipped a bunch of orders today, with another batch heading out tomorrow. Fusetronsound (NYC) and Little Big Cheif (VA) will both be stocking it soon. Thanks to everyone who ordered so far!

No reviews in yet, but two separate Australian sites used the phrase “tales of suburban woe” to describe the album in blurbs. So that’s something.

Big Black Cloud - “Cocaine World” w/ “Translucent City” 7”, Coming Soon!

Along with the two singles I’ve mentioned previously (Human Hair and Modern Convenience), I will be releasing a 7” for Portland’s Big Black Cloud. Their 2010 “Dark Age” LP is easily one of the best records of the last couple of years (you should head over to the band’s label, Stankhouse Records, and pick up a copy if you haven’t already), so I’m really excited to be releasing a record for these guys. Once the single has been mastered I’ll be getting everything into a pressing plant. More info soon!
